used to be a job title staffed by women, that the first compiler and precursor to COBOL was written by a woman to put a dude in his place, and programming was once considered women's work.at Raytheon, it was about 50 percent men and 50 percent women—and it really amazed me that these men were programmers, because I thought it was women’s work! It's really weird technology. One of the most interesting things I've read in a while. Makes me wonder what other weird technologies we've not even happened upon so far. There are completely different architectures for technology that would look so different.
On that topic, the moon machines documentary is pretty good; it's like 5 or 6 videos IIRC, very detailed, all on youtube.
