It would almost certainly be a community with very few if not zero active posters, and there's already a few relevant communities on .world, and nothing's stopping people from posting d/Deaf or HoH-related content on other communities... But even keeping all that in mind, I still think having a /c/deaf would be nice anyways.

The community could also be called /c/dhoh or something else entirely, it depends on what people prefer.

I'm not sure what I'd post on there but i just had my first hearing test in which i am technically hard of hearing (and in no way claiming to be deaf or disabled by it) and i have had tinnitus since childhood so you have one potential poster

It would probably be best to find someone who's actually Deaf to moderate it. If no-one can be found, I will consider the position.

How does this process work, anyways? I take it that this request has enough upbears to be seriously considered for creation, so is it now like during the next mod drive there's going to be a section for people who want to moderate /c/deaf, and then after that the community will be created?

Once someone volunteers to moderate it I'll send a mod application and when it's filled out I'll create the community

Regardless of how many users it would get, I support the idea. Might encourage more discussion on accessibility, too.

One of the only subreddits I still pop in on sometimes is /r/asl since I'm still trying to develop proficiency with it, so I think it would be great to see a comm like this
