There's almost 0 state efforts to preserve the cultural identities of immigrants of any kind

When people celebrate "diversity" in the West, it's just eating shawarma, drinking boba, watching Anime, listening to kpop, and eating at an Ethiopian restaurant. Pure commodification and consumerism masquerading as celebration and promotion of foreign cultures

Or you'll have people fetishizing about spicy latinas, lightskins, and Asians like they're fucking Pokemon cards

Some LatAm countries are better than the US, some worse. My friend went to Colombia and said he felt a lot more welcome as a black person and noticed a lot more racial and ethnic diversity than back home, and people obviously race mix more. He also noticed there were more black people everywhere than in the US, but obviously you wouldn't get that in like, Argentina or something. Personally I've never been south of the border, but I've lived in Canada for a while, there I definitely noticed a lot less pressure for immigrants to "assimilate." Probably because Canadians are generally somewhat less nationalistic and care less about having a monolithic identity than a lot of Americans do (although they're no strangers to cultural genocide either)

If you look at diversity indexes (hard to measure objectively but researchers look at ethnic, linguistic, and cultural diversity) the US comes in pretty much roughly in the middle on a global scale. The "melting pot of the world" shit is braindead lib exceptionalism that usually only compares to Europe, which basically shut most of its borders to the world until like the 90's

Like for example, for ethnic diversity:
