I admit I was disappointed with Witch from Mercury for its lightweight worldbuilding.
The Universal Century setting is rightfully regarded very highly, and the fact that the lion's share of it was written by Tomino while his infamously messy worldview was still mostly coherent and containing many good criticisms of contemporary capitalism. Unfortunately, his tendency to be a crank was still present even in his glory days, such as the plan to have Zeta Gundam have openly antisemitic plot elements. Thankfully, that didn't make it into the final work. No idea how much his consistently poor mental health is to blame.
G Gundam is fun, and After War X Gundam is a worthy totally not UC spinoff.

i'm working on victory rn. lots of incredible stuff, but there are also the horrors*
*shrike team, bath scene, general misogyny
Legend goes, Tomino was intentionally trying to sabotage the franchise back then.
i would definitely believe it
