Sort of. I knew a Bosnian Muslim guy in high school. I went to a mostly black high school and this Bosnian guy was universally thought of as white despite being Muslim and Eastern European. People would call him "that white boy," etc.
Whiteness is socially constructed, so how people diagnose and apply it varies from person to person. Not even people who are alienated from whiteness agree on exactly what whiteness is, or what constitutes whiteness. I'm part black, but I'm very pale, so people usually think of me as white. I'm "white-passing" if you will.
