Do... Do people just not remember Crazy Frog? Like, what is there to get?
Seriously, internet humor hasn't massively changed since the 2000's. The popularity of certain aspects waxes and wanes as different sections of the internet and different age-groups within that internet discover and re-discover things but there is nothing foreign here. Hell, the most recent 'weird thing' for me was mukbang videos, but people have always been weird about certain noises or whispering, it's just that now with the the wide-spread adoption of studio quality microphones, people can experiment and go with whatever the weirdos want.
