every Chinese person I've met has every chapter of One Piece memorized like they're a cleric in Mecca memorizing the Qur'an. Indonesians are really into it too.

dragonball feels like a minority religion in crusader kings that used to rule the world

No fucking way Naruto and Pokémon are more popular than DBZ in Latin America

I have been in bars in South America where I'd see rough looking middle aged guys staring transfixed at a TV showing Dragonball Z. It's amazing.

You can easily find a lot of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Frieza plushies, toys and coffee mugs in any gift store.

Naruto I can believe being popular, but Pokemon more popular than Dragonball? In Latin America? Just doesn't make sense

Naruto I can believe being popular

That is true, Naruto was also really popular, idk about Boruto since i never met anyone irl that watched the anime, but the Dragon Ball fanbase is huge af.

Dragon Ball Z was shown on the state TV (SABC1 or 2 I think) channel practically every day after school when I was growing up, so it checks out for South Africa.

i absolutely don't believe dbz's range is so limited, this methodology is suspect

yeah. of these, one piece and pokemon are at a big advantage since they're still going. dragon ball still has movies and games, and naruto has boruto and the occasional spinoff whatever, but that's not the same. i mean, i would believe it if pokemon was just #1 basically everywhere, but there's no way dragon ball is actually less popular than one piece and naruto so many places

i do actually like one piece more, but i see people in dragon ball shirts and with super saiyan bumper stickers all the time at work. no way one piece beats that

Actually they only factored these 4 shows into it. It's just which of these 4 shows was most googled in each country in 2022.

based one piece sphere. science proves now that it's the communist anime. also shows why french people are perhaps the only redeemable euros (although the french state is still today composed primarily of psychotic, blood-thirsty imperialists).

Nothing more Anglo than going up to someone minding their own business, enslaving them, and then forcing them to undertake dangerous labor for your own benefit.

Great seeing the international community agree Pokemon is the best anime.
