There is a lot of national labs work focusing on this these days, basically doing really high-tech quality assurance to audit that the chips ending up in military hardware are what they expect. Was approached for one of these jobs but turned it down. The work is super interesting & unique and the people involved were very bright and would have been great to work with, but I couldn't stomach the idea of spending my life and creative efforts auditing a chip that goes into a missile to ensure it isn't deterred from its unimpeachable goal of ripping the bodies of Palestinian families to shreds.
