    I think that's a buyproduct of renting a space. Cheaper to install, easier to remove, is an ugly trip hazard but at least you get your bond back at the end

        It shouldn't run along the ground, no, but the same is true for it not being in the walls. Is this a new build/does it not have wire runs already?

        Either way, you ideally want a permanent circuit that's out of the way for safety, with GFCI outlets. Having external/surface wiring exposes it to more wear and tear than otherwise, can be a hassle running through doorways etc.

        If you have the opportunity to do it right and don't need to remove it when the lease runs out, you might as well go the extra mile?
