Iirc they started at destrucroid like nearly 2 decades ago.

I remember the classic days on the escapist, with the film videos as well and uncivil war with yahtzee, and also ryhmedown spectacular.

    Long live jimdependance lmao

Jimquisition is old enough to keep referring "back in my days as a gamer journalist" unironically which it is mentioned often, too often even.

You remember when the cycle repeated and the same shit happened with Tears of the Fanbase Kingdom? =)

History will vindicate them on this one.

Been around long enough nothing is surprising, plus a lot of it is cyclical. As in not much changes and similar things were happening in the late oughts as they are now.. but it has gotten worse. Especially with gamersTM having no historical memory nor vote with their wallets, lots of gamersTM enjoy their slop and so the cycle continues lol

One of the things I appreciate most about James Steph is that they actually remember stuff that happened five, ten, fifteen years ago. Love knowing I'm not literally the only dork with brainspace dedicated to gamer history!

One of the few that will remind people of the reality of it, not have some revisionist history by some content creator who is repeating things second hand as it were.. (often with a factually incorrect retelling)

I miss when youtube was some people going into long form discussion in their basement over some random game rather than the over produced say nothing videos you tend to get a dime a dozen now.. I don't care about the high production, I'm more interested in your takes and some history on the game and that individuals history with said game. The amount of videos where they rhyme off some wikipedia information and such then watch as they do a playthrough is very prevalent..

Jason Graves and Noah Caldwell-Gervais still do this at least

The genre is "nerdy bespectacled whiteboys get really autistic for anywhere from twenty minutes to five hours" (extremely positive connotation spongebob-i-fucking-love )

You've seen my feed bridget-smug I have over 800 channels.. that have been filtered for years (rss feeds so I don't ever have to login) But I've become more annoyed over time with people making videos that say very little and just show a playthrough.. I need more than that.. thankfully there are some top quality video creators still but you have to dig for them kiryu-pain

I've kept up with Stephanie from around 2007 and a lot of their life has mirrored my own in ways funnily enough, Non binary transfem and late transitioner past trauma included... and they're around my age too so a lot of similarities along with me doing the leonardo meme with some of the boglins and other British toys of the 80s/90s, also has a filthy mouth just like myself so relatable in many ways, blunt as fuck brutal humor.. (which I also share) games industry is fuuuuuuuuuckin' shit and they've been pointing it out for years, long may they continue

unfortunately for them the Gamer bullshit is so repetitive all their videos feel the same. honestly why nothing changes in the gaming industry? at some point enough's gotta be enough.
