I don't think jesse-wtf is a very good emoji, because maybe the facial expression is there but it's small and dark, and looks like a guy making a slightly-scrunched-but-essentially-neutral facial expression. A WTF emoji should have a big extravagant expression

        Dude, it's a scene from a 2019 movie and the meme wasn't a thing until 2020:

        On October 11th, 2019, crime thriller El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie premiered[2] (scene shown below, right). In a flashback scene, Walter and Jesse are dining together at a restaurant, discussing food, their plans and lives.

        On March 13th, 2020, iFunny[3] user CosmicRewind posted a Based on What? meme based on the latter scene. In the multi-panel meme, Jesse attempts to explain what "based" means to Walter, with him not understanding it and asking Jesse to explain himself (shown below).

        Lol, that is not an 2000's-era advice animal meme. It's as recent as covid ffs.

It still seems like they meant the Jesse-Wtf one, given the comment they were responding to, and also since I don't think that Jackie Chan image was ever really a meme, let alone popular. But I could be wrong. TrashcanOfIdeology, If you mean the Jackie Chan meme is 2000's era advice animal, then my mistake, it could well be.

        You may not, but that doesn't change the fact that it is an extremely well known meme that internet culture in general understands and uses. Frank is speaking not just for himself, but for the broader internet meme culture. It's like the

        anakin-padme-2 anakin-padme-3 anakin-padme-4 series.

        I'm sure you could find images of people, even famous people, being more expressive and emotive with the "you mean... ...right? ...right??" sentiment. But nearly everyone already knows this one. It's just an internet thing at this point. Same with the Jesse-Wtf emoji. That's what Frank means by shared cultural reference (I'm pretty sure anyway, I'm not trying to put words in anyone's mouth).

        Also, the jesse-wtf is imo a rather perfect expression for the way it usually gets used.

        We do already have other "wtf?" emojis like wtf that express a similar but slightly different sentiment (though they also lack that cultural touchstone).

        The image of Walt seems very expressive to me, but it's not the same kind of "wtf" as your Jackie Chan emoji. The Walt one expresses more of a dumbfoundedness, a kind of mild shock along with confusion and importantly, a bit of disdain. There are a lot of circumstances when that kind of specific sentiment is what's called for. That's not to say your Jackie Chan one wouldn't also have moments where it would be more fitting and the better choice, but it's showing a very different kind of emotion, one that I would expect would find moments of appropriate use fewer and farther between. In short, the JC emoji would be for different circumstances, with more over the top exasperation, and wouldn't fit well in some places where the Walt emoji does. So I would say sure, add it to the bunch, it is just definitely not a replacement of the perennial emoji that is Walt's "Jess, wtf?!"

        to further clarify, other terrible people emojis here are used because they are terrible to mock them, this one bothers me because it’s proposed to be used a generic wtf and glosses over his child abuse and homophobia. Chan has this kid-friendly public image and got to star in an animated kids show for fuck sake while being a piece of shit and this feels like continued whitewashing. jack black gets more heat and attention here for being kid-friendly while libbing out but an actual child abuser homophobe gets a proposed ‘clean’ emoji trophy
