As much as I’d miss the diversity and chance to meet new people, I would also hate to be a chinese student studying abroad and getting asked 500 times about social credit scores, xi jinping, and winnie the pooh while I’m trying to eat a burger
if it makes you feel better, most nationals in my canadian school have never bothered to try speaking or befriending any Chinese students because racism
good for them. international students are absolutely fleeced. They get enticed with the promise of a better life but with the west going down the toilet china probably has better quality of life, and if it doesnt, it damn well will in the near future. Even considering environmental decline on a global scale, I expect China to come out better and for the simple reason that at this time and going forward, the western elite don't give a single shit about their populations.
not saying international students arent getting fleeced(because they are), but education in the developed world is a problem everywhere due to lack of jobs(that is there are more people of higher education than there are jobs that need their skillset to fill). This includes China.
I see it as if youre gping to potentially get fleeced, might as well not pay exhorbitantly more than at home. (sorta similar to goong to school in state vs out of state)
yeah I totally agree with you. That's a better of putting it. I just despise the international student racket western countries do so I lose a lot of nuance. I mean its just capitalism right. Turning something like education into a purely financial endeavor but I still don't like it.
Lol a Canadian I know loves to brag about how Kkklanada's chief export is education. RIP IP I guess, maybe becoming a sinophobic paranoid security state wasn't in your best interests, but at least you stopped those nefarious secret police stations!
