A compensation plan has been set out for the families of people found to have been unlawfully killed or abused by Australian special forces in Afghanistan. Compensation was one of the recommendations from the 2020 Brereton report that found Australian defence forces were involved in the "murder" of 39 prisoners and civilians in Afghanistan.

doesn't seem like there will be any jail time to warcriminals aus-delenda-est but better than amerikkka i guess

Taking bets on how much actually gets paid out?

Still, better than a kick in the teeth I guess. Dark piece of Australian history this is, add it to the pile.

      I find this:

That includes that the claim must relate to someone who is "reasonably likely" to be the victim of assault or property damage or a family member of someone unlawfully killed.

The person must also not be a member of a terrorist organisation.

to be a place of shenanigans. Are taliban terrorist? YPG? Is etim terrorist nowadays?

Going rate was 2k for usa i believe for some time, they'll probably bump it to not look like complete pricks

Yeah absolutely. CDF will just say "Oh reasonable doubt in terrorist group".

Also like idk how membership in whatever makes extralegal killing less wrong but fuck me.
