what's there to struggle over? it sucks for everyone involved. we as a society should be able to provide for the kid but we live in hellworld, so both the parents and the child are fucked without substantial support from the grandparents.
Basically someone was saying child support is like slavery, so we as leftists should oppose it on principal, regardless of context.
I fulfilled my responsibility when my parents offered to pay for an abortion.
What a fucking loser.
I guess the good news is that that AITA is mostly fake ragebait. And this story is detailed enough in a way that suggests it's degen fantasy.
Was this a struggle session topic around here? I missed it. Seems like it would just fall flat tbh. The dilemma only exists in a liberal state that doesn't provide basic necessities for its people. Outside of the immediately practical "Yeah you have to pay child support or they'll come after you in five different ways" the only discussion is how much of a "yeah sorry it sucks" to add at the end.
"Have you thought about giving all that money to your child, instead of pissing it away at the diploma mill?"
I figure the struggle session OP is offering is about child support and parental obligation in general.
Specifically the OPOP is fake as hell and if it isn't I just feel bad for all the people involved. Not gonna start dunking on a literal child for being selfish and stupid. For a lot of people it's a blurry line for when your brain actually starts working.
There was a struggle session about “in a perfect world” whether a person who’s not conceiving the baby should be allowed to forfeit their parental rights before the child is born. Lots of different takes in that thread.
Being made to pay for a minimum of 18 years for a child you didn't want in the first place is shitty, but still the lesser evil compared to that child not getting support
