I don’t think it was so much questioning her heritage as it was insinuating she picks which side to identify with based on what’s politically convenient. Whole event was awkward as fuck, especially when he tried to argue that his xenophobic policies were defending “black jobs.”
he's already racist and so even when he's not really trying to be racist, he can't help being racist. He's just a blowhard, and a topic like that needs to be approached with a bit of grace, which he has a complete inability to do.
