adopting the worldview of "if you have literally any inherent advantage over the average competitor you should be disqualified because it's just not fair" with regards to a friendly entertainment-first competition that is fundamentally about showing the peak of human athletics. because of woke pronouns

chuds will literally say that this description with a straight face is exactly what communism represents and then throw a tantrum the second someone who is not a cishet WASP kicks their shit in. what happened to your little haplogroups and calipers big dawg you're supposed to be taking this shit on the chin oh wait it's literally just racial main character syndrome cool cool

Just about every single person who wins anything in the Olympics is a genetic mutant with huge "unfair" advantages over everyone else. I don't remember anybody sobbing over Michael Phelps' weird arms.

He is? i mean, it doesn't surprise me because he literally is a freak of nature who is inherently superior to most humans in one very specific thing, so chud ideology fits him like a glove. Growing up being someone special in the US definitely doesn't help.

I’m a leftist because I am cool with gay people and I want weed to be legal but if you can’t afford to feed your kids then you should have made better life choices. Cut my taxes.

I hope they're being ironic, because this pretty much describes a large majority of online "leftists/libertarians" who have literally zero class consciousness, and by extension no concept of intersectionality or systemic oppression. They just want legal weed, lower taxes, and to pay lip service to marginalized peoples.

As far as sympathy garnering headlines go, "I got punched in the face! Sobs professional competitive face-puncher" is not a great one.

she got cranked in the nose and she had to stop the fight to save her life? A broken nose fuckin hurts but you're not gonna die.

I saw someone explain this - in a boxing tournament if you break your nose right at the beginning of a multi fight series, you're going to not only have a bad time, you might get like permenant damage and you'll also lose because you'll be focused on protecting your nose.

sounds like good boxers should really protect their nose

something that's not touched upon is that apparently there was a significant weight difference between the two, despite being in the same weightclass. Getting punched by someone 30% heavier than you is gonna hurt, no matter how good you are at guarding.

wait people will compete near the bottom of a weight class? that sounds like an awful idea.

Italian AFAB boxer fought against Algerian AFAB (who looks pretty masc, whatever that means) boxer in the olympics, but the Algerian was significantly stronger, not to mention heavier than the Italian, so after 2 punches she tapped out.

The picture is of the Italian fighter crying because they were, paraphrasing, 'the strongest punches i've felt in my life'. Chuds and transphobes everywhere are using this as an opportunity to cry about the swarthy hordes of men dressing up as women to beat up their white women, despite the fact that the famously transphobic olympic committee gave the greenlight for the Algerian athlete to compete, after a bunch of exams they do for all athletes came out normal.

All in all, a manufactured outrage that combines chuds' favorite thing: racism and transphobia, along with 'defend muh white women'

This all sounds super weird and I don't know what to make of it.

Even when two cis people are competing, trans people are still catching strays.

        Now what?

        bear-despair

        Thank you for the explanation.

I read the Wikipedia article yesterday, so I'm obviously an expert... There's been no proof that she's intersex. She's also lost to women before. 9 times.

who looks pretty masc, afaik because of being intersex

So a few posters have mentioned she's not intersex but I want to elaborate a little on that

The only "proof" or claim that she's intersex comes from an official of the IBA who, in a random Telegram post, said she had XY chromosomes. She was disqualified from an IBA event along with a couple other boxers due to failing some sort of hormonal test before the match, but the IBA has so far refused to disclose what the test even tested for let alone what the results actually were, so there's no corroborating what the official said on Telegram and therefore makes it entirely unreliable

Imane Khelif has boxed in the Olympics before and has never shown signs of being intersex or having any elevated levels of T. It literally hasn't been an issue until this Italian boxer conceded and the chuds went wild with it

Is the Italian boxer actively fanning the flames? The only things I saw were basically that she was upset about losing, but it seemed like all the hatred was coming from conservative talking heads, not from her.

I'll be entirely honest, I don't know. The waters are muddy at the moment and I didn't see that particular match

To my understanding the Italian boxer left the field pretty steamed and refused to even acknowledge her opponent or shake hands, which could be frustration on her part or could be a legitimate snub, it's impossible to know, and the media shoving cameras and microphones into her face seconds later didn't help either

It is admittedly poor wording on my part, and I'll fix that
