I think they just think that saying stuff like "there's a lot of Ukrainian nazis" is "racist against Eastern Europeans" and until they say otherwise I'm going to go on believing that.
(To be fair to them I have in my time seen MLs say things that I'd consider to be racist against Ukrainians, one very extreme guy on a server I'm in regularly says a slur against them and the admins are totally fine with it which is one of many points of contention I have with that server, but Ive never seen that sort of thing here).
