This was something that surprised even me when I was there. Chinese people are WAY more friendly and welcoming than the western media would have you believe. It's definitely one of the friendliest places I've ever visited, and this was in a city of 14 million people mind you. I think the only friendlier place I've been to is Ireland, but China is pretty damn close.
