I got into century club and it was really fucking awful. There was one user in particular who was a real beard as personality late middle aged dude. He would post about his mundane suburban life constantly, as if anyone was interested, and would refer to his wife as Mrs WhateverTheFuckHisUsernameWas. It was so incredibly condescending and cringe. But because this was Reddit his boring ass self commentary was fawned upon by other century club users, wanting a bit of parasocial interaction. If you were particularly lucky and lived nearby he might swing by and then post pictures of himself drinking and smoking cigars with you.
To top it off he was a veteran. A real arsehole of a veteran. I think I made some comment about Afghanistan and he responded to me with a story about how he got drunk and ran over a bunch of camels with an LAV, thinking he sounded really cool and unconcerned. True or not, it was just the worst, most childish thing anyone had ever said to me. Just oozing with this need to be seen as some sort of cool dude who couldn't care less about silly little things like human rights or illegal wars.
I left that sub pretty much because of this one dude. Oh, and some other user called MrPants who also referred to his "wifey" as Mrs Pants. 🤮
