Just Beanis is stuck in my head because some stupid fuck (with love) got it stuck in my brain this morning and now I’m binging Michael Jackson songs. I was too young when these allegations and since then I’ve read all kinds of things about his life, and I would like to know what you guys think is and isn’t real. I read bits about his troubled childhood, his humanity, and his apparent dark side. To me this man is a fucking titan of music.
Regarding the allegations I’ve read everything from him being a prolific pedophile to being a deeply caring and misunderstood man who wanted to help kids. Was this just a homophobic, racist hitjob?
What do you guys think?
I think I read some of the testimonies from the court psychologists (publicly available), though my memory is fuzzy on it. The general consensus seemed to be that he didn't have any interest in CSA and was genuinely trying to relive his childhood but without the exploitation and abuse he encountered.
Assuming that's true and accurate (and with his level of financial and cultural power that's a huge assumption), his behavior was still highly inappropriate and boundary-crossing. A rational person would also ask themselves if he would be reasonably capable of determining what an environment free of abuse and exploitation would even look like without years of therapy and/or introspection.
