Absolutely insane

It’s really disturbing that anyone could be so brainwashed as to believe the Democrats are meaningfully different from Republicans when they are constantly vowing to kill as many people and ruin as many lives as possible. You really expect me to side with you to stop Trump when you are criticizing him for not being ruthless enough and promising an even more cruel border policy?

Your perception of that apparent incongruence is correct; they are not brainwashed.

They purposely seek bigoted narratives and outcomes because they believe they will personally benefit from it. They say one team is "objectively" better than another; we have to question for whom they are better for. The Democratic (and likewise for the Republican) party are perceived to be better for classes that are privileged enough to receive the benefits of their preferred bourgois political party, and they see themselves part of those privileged classes.

Those who vote for Democrats saying they are worried about fascism enacted against them personally if the Republican party comes to power are thereby admitting that they feel they are sufficiently immune to the barbarism enacted by the Democrats currently, and believe they are exempt from the barbarism the Democrats will enact in the future.

Great comment! You’re absolutely right, they aren’t brainwashed. I made my comment mostly out of disgust for the shameless appeals to morality you frequently get from those who vote Democrat, but looking back I feel calling them brainwashed implicitly absolves them of the deliberate choice they make to align themselves with imperialist interests in pursuit of personal gain.

I used to think along the lines of if only these people knew the truth!; the perspective of brainwashing that I outlined is a relatively new understanding and point of learning for me.

Indeed. I wish I could still see them as people who need to be shown another way, but the 21st century is almost a quarter of the way finished and they STILL choose to use the same strategies that have cyclically, objectively failed to deliver the goods so far. Doesn't really seem like naïveté to me anymore.

I’ve been meaning to read this essay for a bit! I read a chunk of China Has Billionaires yesterday on my break. I like how clear Roderic Day’s writing is, so I’ll definitely have to make time for that next.

Well, that's why I love Roderic Day's writing, it's because of how simple, yet clear it is for someone who's attention span varies. I love how relatable the essay is because I still remember when I was an anti-communist, a yanKKKee lover and a Trump supporter. visible-disgust (I know, you wouldn't think that you're hearing from a former KKKonSServative.) And oh my, I had a teacher who was quite progressive, and when I used to complain about communism, he mentioned Pinochet, and I dismissed the evidence at the time because it contradicted neoliberal ideology I used to believe in. So, for Day to mention about how weSSternerSS want to believe that our country is better than the Socialist nations is so true. Like yes, Iraq was bad, healthcare's getting shittier, but this time, they're telling the truth.

And those same people will accuse us of being in a echo chamber, like fuck off, I live in a world where KKKaptaliSSt ideology is promoted in my face 24/7, I deal with liberal family members (I love my family, but please open your eyes,) I literally see liberaliSSm everywhere, on the media, YouTube, the news, and I'm like oh my lord, give me a break.

Sorry, I can be pissed off at times, and I can chat a lot at times. But you are great. Please be safe and may you have ten thousand years of luck. fidel-salute

It was disturbing how fascist it was and the crowd applauding it made it even worse. She said China will not be #1 in technology, a very specific thing to say. Then suggested Iran is begging for Trump. Pretty sure that’s her buddy Netanyahu.

Of course Kamala will never stand up to Bibi or Milei in Argentina. Only dictators that she disapproves of or are no longer convenient.

      Fully agreed, that said-

Of course Kamala will never stand up to Bibi or Milei in Argentina

There's nothing to "stand up to" Milei about, really. Milei is the one bending over (and screwing his entire country in the process). This is what Genocide Joe and Klanmala (not that either of them had much to do with it, likely- one's senile, and yet the other is somehow probably somehow more ignorant and incompetent) brought him into power for; he's about as explicit of a puppet as it gets.

Because seriously, Milei seeks to dollarize the economy, has enacted hyper-austerity (well beyond even western recommendations), engaged in "libertarian" policies (economic only of course) while bringing in even more historic IMF loans, and moved the nation's gold reserves to the west... and now he's moving to basically sell off the lithium/etc to the west, excluding China and the rest of BRICS...

      A) don't get Goldilocks syndrome or whatever.
      B) China leads in like 47/55 tech sectors and in some sectors has literally all 10 of the top universities.

      USA ain't never catching up.
