Seems like the best science youtuber also has good Star Trek opinions
That actor was amazing, including in his human-imitation moments and his painfully brief emotional experience. The "make Claire break up with him" slob attempt was one of the funniest moments of the show.
The Orville gets a lot of mileage out of the Union's medical science being even more advanced than the Federation's. Like the early episode where Isaac cut Gordon's leg off as part of a prank war and the easy answer was to just grow him a new one which took a day or two.
All the wacky Moclan traditions were very fun except for the ones that were extremely not fun.
Oh yea, I did watch a couple seasons and was surprised by how decent it was. Still has a few MacFarlane-isms but it's got the spirit. The Moclan child arc was actually really impressive aside from a couple lib bits.

The life support system was by and large in the ship's interior walls; it was a sort of vegetation construct everywhere.
That's super cool biotech and I loved that bit of background lore.

The Battle of Dollyworld was amazing, soundtrack and all.
The Moclan child arc in season 3 is some of the best Trek of all time tbh
