Yeerks are such entitled little shits. Imagine bring able to take over any body you can fit into and you choose sentient species. Think of how much more effective their invasions would have been if they took over non-sentient life on a planet first. Like all of a sudden the bear population disappears then shows up randomly in Anchorage and attacks the local populace.
