UPDATE: They're back!
Between the arrests of Russia Today contributors, the banning of TikTok, the arrest of the Telegram founder, Facebook's banning of The Cradle, etc., etc. . . . they're coming down hard on anyone questioning the NATO narrative. Maybe this is a fluke or an error (I can't find anything from Johnson or Shirazi about it) but it looks like it's part of a troubling pattern.
Probably not directly related, but, the feds harassed Scott Ritter, UK police detained Richard Medhurst, and the telegram CEO was arrested all in the span of a week or two. Kinda feels like something is going on, but also I'm naturally paranoid, so idk.
woah I haven't heard about Richard Medhurst arrest. Britain is a hellhole
It's happening way too often in a short period to be a coincidence. I feel like the only reason so many Palestinian journalists keep their Insta's is the ad revenue off of doomscrolling.
Agreed, seems like there's a real push for full control over information this year.
CN is far from what I'd call "militant". Probably as well-documented and mild-mannered as radical politics gets. Then again, Medium deleted my length call out post of a former friend when he was accused of rape so maybe it's not so surprising
You never know what will set status quo junkies off. I tried to use Citations Needed to pull a lib friend left, and they said it was too "angry."
Nobody said they were militant. Adam has a real, important job and can't afford to say edgy things for clicks. He's spoken about this before when people asked him why he hasn't gone on Chapo.

This one is from well before the current Israeli atrocities kicked off. He's been doing this a long time.
I wonder why. Is it really over Israel? CN isn't particularly edgy or inflammatory when it comes to criticism
No clue. The last post was a News Brief that looked like it was just rehashing Adam Johnson's latest article for In These Times. Maybe someone they quoted at length hit them with a bullshit DMCA violation?
Eventually libsyn will do the same and the podcast will be dead entirely.
If you want to survive you must own your own tools.
The strategy Citations Needed must adopt is Post on Own Site Syndicate Everywhere.
Learning how to self host their podcast on their own domain will be a pain in the ass, cost money and take enough time that we'll probably have a couple fewer episodes as a result. Getting listeners to subscribe to the new feed will be a slow and annoying transition However the sooner this is done the less damage will be done when the inevitable occurs. Doing anything less is begging to be destroyed.
