tl;dr police are quite literally not required by law to help you.
And when it comes to talking to cops, they’re literally not allowed to use anything you say to help you. What you say to a cop can only be used as evidence against you, because of weirdness about our legal system that I don’t understand but makes it obvious the whole system is fundamentally bad
I don't think that's actually true. It's just that their most concrete powers are punitive. When you only have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Their job is ultimately to protect private property, not people.
This is why we want them replaced or eradicated.
