Huh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they mostly just download from streaming sites? The process seems like it could be automated and run with minimal costs/effort besides maybe paying for seedboxes. When I have more free time, I might just try my hands at developing an open source project to facilitate this kind of operation.
Yes that's right. There are in fact a couple of projects that do just that. I was interested in chatting with anyone experienced however as it might be valuable to hear what kind of heat comes from being the kind of sub group that essentially downloads and uploads the ENTIRE anime industry. There's obviously a huge gaping hole in the community right now and it was a question of whether we could connect up a few people that might be capable of carrying the torch that has currently been dropped.
Yeah I was aware there were tools for ripping streams. I was thinking more along the lines of the entire pipeline from downloading the videos, creating the torrents, and deploying/updating a website that compiles everything together. That way even if one group get shut down, it would be fairly easy for others to just clone the project and spin everything back up under a new domain name.
