I absolutely love the first 2 movies and have been routinely disappointed by everything after them, Zero seems to be getting good reviews but I'm curious what the hexfolk think
I am just now finding out about this and the first two are some of my favorite movies, though I definitely saw the first one waaayyyyyy too young. That image in the opening war scene where a random redshirt gets instagibbed by a shot from a mech cannon is seared in my mind forever. That was probably the most I have ever been disturbed by an image in any sci-fi horror, it isn't exceptionally gory the parts don't go flying or anything it's like his torso just disappears and the limbs drop straight to the ground in a very undramatic way and something about that really fucked up my 8 year old brain.
I watched the first episode... honestly was kinda unimpressed. It all felt very boilerplate, the parts in the future all felt like the Christian Bale T4.
I dunno, doesn't feel like Production I.G.'s best work, so the show doesn't look that good either (by contrast, Heavenly Delusion and Kaiju No. 8 both at least looked neat). A lot of it feels like standard Netflix outsourced Korean studio work, but at least with Castlevania/Blood of Zeus there was more to work with.
