mocking and quoting bigots I've seen so far
:liberalism: turns to "you know it's hexbear when the tankie pronoun parade shows up to force pictures of pigshit in front of you!"* real quick
[*this is paraphrased, I can't remember the exact original quote]
Or "so suddenly I'm Hitler because i think people calling themselves Fae gender is dumb"
Or "why should i need to learn a new set of different pronouns for every person I meet?" (this followed two comments after "I'm literally not a transphobe, I work with plenty of trans colleagues who feel safe around me" (average lib being scratched in real time by having to acknowledge neopronouns))
.
All of these shitheads claimed to be allies when they started interacting but our brilliant pronoun tags immediately made them out themselves as the bigots they are who only pretend to be allies because it looks bad to be openly and proudly transphobic
TL;DR:
Expected gender roles, gender presentation, gender identity, and pronouns are all separate things. For instance, a gender non-conforming he/him stone-butch lesbian is still a woman if he identifies as such. The same is true of she/her gay men. There are also many nonbinary people who use she/her or he/him pronouns but that doesn't inherently make them feminine or masculine, either in presentation or identity, nor does it indicate what role they play in society.
Neo-pronouns are used by non-binary people and thus do not have assigned roles attributed to them in the west, as the western gender binary doesn't account for them and has historically eliminated those who fall outside of the two 'acceptable' gender categories. In some non-western societies, various native non-binary genders and those born as what we now consider intersex have or had roles relating to things like religion and spirituality, childbirth, life celebrations such as marriage, and medicine.
