The Ratchet Effect isn't quite true. It isn't just the Democrats following in the Republican's footsteps, the Democrats are also pushing the Republicans further right. Harris is going hard-right on border policy, and Trump is trying to out-Nazi her.

Yeah exactly. In the debate, Harris did the whole "immigrants are bringing drugs and crime" thing, so Trump tried to out do her by claiming that immigrants are eating people's pets.

Shockingly (to liberals I suppose), moving towards your opponent's position:

      1. Makes them feel as though their position is valid and correct, and

      2. Makes them move further in that direction to ensure they stay ahead of you.

Kamala could have taken the 'bold' move of not whole-heartedly supporting Israel, as roughly 80% of dem voters want the violence to stop. She could've tried for literally anything, but no, 'wE cAn'T rIsK aLiEnAtInG vOtErS' that were never gonna vote dem anyway.

We just get a senile moron and a smug asshole arguing over who's the most genocidal xenophobe, and 5 trillion bootlickers who are all 'I don't see how not voting helps things checkmate red fash tankie authoritarians' smuglord
