    this is probably more true than it is for liberals but I think every single one of us were wrong in the lead-up to Russia invading Ukraine, unanimous consensus was that it was all US sabre-rattling

      Eh, super small L. Russia was very vocally attempting to prevent doing such a thing. They gave repeated warnings about NATO encroachment while the US media was publishing things like "Here's why the bloodthirsty Russian can't wait to invade Ukraine by Lockheed Martin Rep Bill MilitaryIndustrialComplex Smith". I doubt it's a coincidence that the invasion came just days after Zelensky said Ukraine would be willing to host NATO nukes. And frankly, the longer this has gone on the more information we learn that justifies Russia's actions. Remember, despite Putin being a "bloodthirsty monster", within two months there was minimal infrastructure destroyed and a treaty that NATO/Ukraine broke.
