Back in 2001 Gavin Newsom and Kimberly Guilfoyle got married.

Classy nuptials bring city together / Newsom, Guilfoyle a big event

Dec 10, 2001

A royal wedding. Social event of the year. The two hottest public servants in San Francisco get hitched. You could call Saturday night's wedding of Supervisor Gavin Newsom and Assistant D.A. Kimberly Guilfoyle a lot of things. But the wedding at St. Ignatius Church was simply - I hate to use the word about supes and prosecutors - lovely.

The couple managed to smile and skylark their way through a ceremony watched by everybody who is anybody in San Francisco, smiling at friends and whispering sweet somethings to each other. Forget "Kennedyesque." I think we need a new word - Newsomly. And Julia Roberts only wishes she was played by Kimberly in a wedding flick.

Afterward, everyone packed into the Gettys' mansion for dim sum, sushi and cheese from Point Reyes' Cowgirl Creamery. A stylish dance orchestra played for everyone from Mayor Willie Brown to Clint Reilly, Denise Hale to Warren Hinckle, and Richard Goldman to Father Floyd Lotito. It was Frisco in a very grand box.

"It's amazing," said Father Floyd, whose St. Anthony Dining Room was the beneficiary of last week's pre-wedding party. "Society people, political people, religious people -- we all know each other. That would never happen in L.A."
