The reason why no one talks about it, is because it sucks. In theory it has interesting topics, but the execution is incredibly poor. The world makes no sense, the dynamics between normal humans and beastmen is never really explained, everything is incredibly shallow. The city makes no sense, neither does the way characters act. Everything is rushed and the characters are as dumb as they could possibly be, just so that no one stands in the way of the entirely predictable plot.
BNA is far too short to even execute a single idea properly or to establish a world with some logic to it. I doubt that they would be able to with more episodes, as nothing is fleshed out and I don't see evidence that they are capable of it. They added fillers.
I think they're dumb intentionally. The show is about and critiques liberals. The character diverges from Trigger's usual protagonist who is already anti-authority and obviously leftist who wants to change the way things are. The character is apathetic, she doesn't want to change anything, she just wants to get better and leave. That's all she cares about. It's a closed and centrist mindset. What we see, by the end, is the progression of the character into the typical Trigger-attitude protagonist. The idea I believe is to display characters that are liberal or politically apathetic, and to display just how easily that shallow minded attitude and its politics can be co-opted into fascism. I agree that pretty much everyone is stupid in the show but I think it has a point.
One thing I do think it deservers more criticism for is that all of its commentary is VERY on-the-nose.
but i wouldnt say they are filler episodes, they expand on how the cities functions, example

You don't need an episode of baseball matches to show how the poor live. More so than showing how the poor live, it presented them (a very small group) as even much dumber than the main character.
feel free to correct me but i dont see a problem on the characters being "dumb" i think they are represented like that because they were of a lower age and they feel like it could make them cute in addition with their good heart, maybe because in the baseball matches they get hurt regularly could be another explication, but really i dont know
Yes, that was probably the reason they were portrayed that way, but it didn't help at giving some insight into the slums, how people live there, how many are affected by it (the city is generally empty throughout the whole show), why there is so much poverty or even what their views on the city and the system are. We know that there are slums, but they are never explained beyond that they simply exist.
I generally agree with the criticism here, though maybe not as harshly. It felt like they had a bunch of cool ideas for the setting, but never had enough time to flesh anything out in detail. So by the time the finale came around, a lot of stuff either didn't make much sense, or came off pretty badly (beastmen being unable to coexist peacefully because of an inherent genetic condition is questionable, to say the least.) I think Awoo's take on it being a critique of liberals is fairly accurate regarding the protagonist, but the rest of the characters kind of just struck me as standard archetypes without much depth. I don't think the issue was a lack of episodes, it was more that Trigger didn't really plan anything too deeply outside the two main characters. That all said, I think it still showed a lot of promise and could be a really interesting series if they took things further, provided they give more careful consideration to the themes, characters and overall plot.
i agree that it feel rushed and adding a s2 wouldnt solve it,the worst offender is
