Hey remember when Microsoft walked back making the XBox One digital only because of backlash and now console companies are making digital only versions on their consoles anyway? Yeah.
As much as treatbrained smuglords may say otherwise, it isn't "nostalgia" that keeps me focused on older games. It's that I still fucking own them and they don't disappear when a suit decides they do.
Also a lot of modern games are way, way, way, too overmonetized and often have sloppy and lazy design choices that make the older games better.
they always say this when they get caught, they never actually mean this. they will 100% try this shit again once people have cooled down and begun to accept practices like these from big companies - the same way people have accepted scummy DLCs and microtransactions despite horse armor dlc (bethesda) being considered ridiculous in the past.
unity tried to suck money out from devs making games using their engine, only to try and backpedal once many devs begun moving to godot. no doubt unity will try that shit again if this mass exodus of devs didn't happen or if they get new devs using their dogshit engine as opposed to the simpler and better godot.
i really hope the same thing happens with the PS5 here, that there's a mass exodus to XBox, Nintendo or better yet - PC.
consoles (asides from handheld ones) are only alive now because they hold quality games (like bloodborne for one) hostage.
