they ended up on the same bill as alt-right broke-ass poster boy and murderer Kyle Rittenhouse.

I have to admit, it’s a bit odd to hear a hardcore band saying that they simply don’t get involved in politics, especially one that says that they’re dedicated to “the culture of hardcore.” Hardcore comes from punk, punk is far-left, end of discussion. But even putting that aside, at least it’s good to hear that someone acknowledges that being opposed to the right-wing canonization of Kyle Rittenhouse isn’t politics, it’s just morality.

It's not that odd to me, just looking at that picture you can tell they're the ”MY CREW 4 LIFE WE KICK UR ASS” type of hardcore who aren't exactly known for their enlightened political opinions.

No one get mad at me.

But politics is morality and morality is politics. This is still doing that thing where it treats politics as some team sport lower on a hierarchy of needs below morality.

Edit - also super weird when Metal Injection is way more Rittenhouse/right-leaning than Metalsucks in this instance when I thought they were owned/run by the same company/group/person.

          both-sides

(note: I know nothing about the ownership and proprietorship of either of these websites)

Also politics and morality are objectively two distinct things but they heavily dialectically interact and inform. Morality is an idealism, politics is a materialism, in the dialectical relationship that exists in the interdependent unity-of-opposites of ideas and substance (in its theory and action). Morality can also be personal as much as it can be societal and communal. It's an idealism, it's subjective. Politics is the objective relationships of power between people. One's morality might inform how they engage with politics, and how political circumstances affect them, hence the dialectical relationship; but it remains its own subjectivity in relation to material politics. This isn't to say morality isn't important for an individual to cultivate, Lenin wrote (or Krupskaya relayed) his thoughts on Communist Morality. Because it is an impulse and framework within peoples ideals which can inform or impel them to take part in great (or terrible) things. But they are distinct, morality and politics.

Sore Throat said it and were right, death to capitalist hardcore. Hardcore is pretty far removed from punk at this point and is rige with chuds or just people who would have been nu metal guys if it was late 90s

there is a big schism forming in hardcore right now. luckily there are far fewer right leaning/chud shit bands but there are a gross number of "apolitical" outfits. most of the "revivalcore" bands that are bringing back the sound of the late 90s/early 00s are staunchly leftist (led by Knocked Loose).

only one "revivalcore" band stands out as right wing and that's Kubali Khan TX. sucks too because i used to like them because they had some good anti-cop songs. turns out they are just lolbertarians but their frontman is friends with a fucking nazi so not a good look. so fuck em
