Treating morality as a math problem is so stupid. Did you know that Audie Murphy killed more people than the Golden State Killer, the Zodiac Killer, and the BTK Killer combined? Therefore he was mathematically more evil than all three of those serial killers combined I guess, reasons and the nature of the victims be damned.

Also these people never want to scale for time or number of participants: the Nazis were around for a measly ~12 years, while the USSR was around for ~69 years hentai-free, and Nazi Germany was one nation while "the communists" during the Cold War consisted of several nations.

Treating the Black Book numbers as though they're reliable (they aren't) for the sake of argument:

Nazis: 17 million divided across 12 years is ~1,416,666 per year average deaths, from one nation / political project.

The Communists: 100 million across 69 years is ~1,449,275 per year average deaths, from multiple nations / political projects.

The Nazis weren't going to stop themselves, they had to be stopped by the USSR. If they had lasted as long as the USSR, they would have comparable kill-counts to what the extremely unreliable Black Book of Communism attributes to the Communists. If you added in the kills from the other fascist nations (Imperial Japan in particular) instead of deliberately skewing the comparison by having all of communism throughout the Cold War against only the Nazis, then the fascists far outpace the communists, even by bullshit Black Book numbers.

Also the nazi number is a low ball if you count missing civilians, there were something like 20 million missing Soviet citizens, presumed dead

even if you ignore missing civilians it's a lowball, the european theater of world war 2 was like 30-40 million deaths. I don't see any good reason 100% of those deaths shouldn't be billed to the nazis.

If we'd use the logic of the black book, we'd have to do exactly that, as it counts all the Wehrmacht soldiers killed by the Red Army and the communist partisans in self defense as "victims of communism". Can't have anti-commuinism without clean Wehrmacht propaganda after all.

Not to mention that the nazis did almost all of that killing in a mere fraction of the 12 years they were in power. The deportations only picked up speed when the war was already underway. And it's not as if they were anywhere near being done with the atrocities they had dreamt up for Eastern Europe when they were finally stopped. If the Nazis would've ever had controlled an area as large as the AES states combined, for as long as the USSR existed, the death count would be immeasurable.

Saying the communists were worse than the nazis is full-blown Hitler apologia and should always be treated as such.

That's Black Book of Communism to be clear, not The Black Book of Soviet Jewry, Polish Jewry, and Poland that that title is taken from which are documents of the Holocaust carried out during and shortly after the war

I could see some of them being billed to western powers who colluded with nazis at the beginning... but yeah, agree

Moralists don't really have beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately.
