I keep getting texts from Democrats to vote for Biden and apparently the great state of Texas is a battleground state or something. Should I vote PSL or will fascists kick in my door a couple years from now? Howie Hawkins seems good, can the Greens hit 5% and does that actually matter?

I haven't followed any of this since Bernie lost on Super Tuesday.

Call me weird but I would vote Green before writing in PSL. But if both are on the ballot I would vote PSL.

I've heard that write ins can get thrown out easily.

So should I avoid write ins? My state has thrown the Green party off the ballot but I don't really want to vote Democrat.

Look at histories of how write in ballots are handled in your state. If it is bad, just ignore the president slot or any ones you don't like

Probably being on the ballot would get them more votes than a write in, and having a third party have a larger voter share would force one of the two parties to start adopting those polices to secure those votes, right? At least that is what I remember from my high school us politics class and something about Roosevelts progressive party.

One poll has PSL at 1% in my state and greens at 0%. Interesting.

That's far too pessimistic. Skateboard O'Rourke lost 50.9% to 48.3% in 2018, and that was in a midterm where lower turnout favors Republicans. It'd definitely be a contest if, say, the nominee had strong support among immigrants and potentially could bring in new voters.

As it is, Biden will probably lose, but him winning is still within the "who the fuck knows anything about anything anymore" days we live in.

I don't think PSL is getting enough votes to force mainstream media to report on it, so I'm voting Green on the nationals.

They get 8-10 million dollars of public funding for their next campaign.

I don't think 5% is going to happen. I also think that the free coverage from politics-as-horse racing columnists is potentially worth more anyway.

If PSL got 5% that'd be neat because they'd turn around and spend the funds on something cooler than campaigning. But that's even less happening this election than the Greens getting it.
