I get what you are saying, but at worst we are getting new membership and allowing the libs to provide a live showing of how they are ultimately incapable of solidarity. I think it makes sense to sometimes support things because they will fail, like the USSR trying to join NATO to demonstrate that NATO was anticommunist and would reject them.
