    Europe needs their own unified defense before they can detach from reliance on external powers. Russia's actions could accelerate that in addition to republican/trumper NATO plans.

      I could see a military clause added to maybe the EU in place of NATO if it comes down to it

      trump doesnt want to end NATO, just make them pay more for it. Although I agree that that could have a similar effect if they judge american backing to be not worth the risk and start being more independent.
