currently theres 2 English and german (from federation) should we olny allow English and defeterate from the German instances or should we get more languages like adding Swedish and more languages we could become a language and queer safehaven not just a queer one or we could stay as is theres many languages we could make prominent the instance is hosted in sweden so why not make Swedish prominent but that has issues too so what should we do

I dont understand what the issue is tbh. if posts from non-english communities bother you, simply block the communities as they show up in your timeline. defederating means that multilingual people on our instance would be unable to interact with those communities at all. seems overkill.

I don't see why we should defederate from instances that don't speak English, if you don't want to see posts in other languages, change your settings and allow only English posts.

I don't think that we should defederate from instances that are in another language. I like seeing the french posts because it allows me to actually use my french.

I think I understand what you're saying, correct me if I'm wrong. I struggled reading it and it looks like others did as well.

You want us to engage in a discussion about if we want this English only OR encourage adding more languages (I don't know how we can attract more languages, but we can certainly try and encourage it?). You say that we could make it prominent that this instance is hosted in Sweden (it isn't too my knowledge) and make Swedish the lingua franca of this instance, but you see the issues with that.

I do think there should at least be some clarification of what languages should be encouraged from a moderation standpoint, but most(?) people here seem to think you want to block other languages that aren't English when in fact you just postulated the idea as well as encouraging adding more. Maybe it should mention somewhere that we're primarily English speaking despite having Swedish in the domain name.

From my understanding, this instance is not hosted in Sweden. It just uses the Blåhaj "theme" as it's a common icon among queer people. I haven't checked where it's hosted, but I just assume it's Australian run.

I regularly post in three languages through blahaj and read posts in two more. Please don’t make me switch instances to do this.
