Isn't silent hill exactly wrong type of game to experience anything remotely close to arousal? (i know its plotline only through cultural osmosis)

There's a lot of horny imagery even in the baseline original games, and the association between sexuality and regret/fear was intentional.

That said, this "hire fans" shit is tacky and sad.

It sort of plays with arousal a little in the design of the nurses, but that serves the story and is also creepy, you're not supposed to be aroused by the faceless bloody-bandaged booba enemies, at least not 'cleanly'. They and Pyramid Head are the warped expressions of James' desires.

I don't know if their inclusion was intended to become a rorsarch test of the players themselves, but that's sure what happened. Now that I think about it, their design is great for that, it says "Here is some prominent cleavage and about 36 indicators that something is terribly wrong and dangerous, if you can ignore all of them and get horny for the cleavage then you are very close to being the worst version of James."

And it's one thing to sexualize the sex monster. But to then insist on sexualizing a human character with a personality who is in great pain from a lifetime of objectification and really wants to not be sexualized, to then petulantly stamp your foot and insist on the righteousness of your crusade to morph her into something you can whack off to... It seems like it's more about the power at that point, the power to take away someone's ability to refuse to be consumed as a treat.

Just for the sake of the people around them, I'm glad these guys will never have a relationship.

I think they're specificsally the protagonists agonizing guilt over staring at a nurse in the hospital while his with was dying.

being generous, there is probably some link with fear and arousal. like after a scary movie has concluded or stopped, when feeling safe maybe or as an act of life affirmation? I dunno. I played Silent Hill and it didn't put me in the mood to get down. it just gave me the creeps. but I've had dates before where there was a spooky movie and it later lead to some honking.

more broadly, I do not get the need to make everything eroticized. I don't want to be prudish, but it seems like far too much already is or at least trying to provoke me into feeling "turned on" to sell me a beer or a burger or a Chevy or a watch. of course, I'm an old now, so I'm not the walking hardon I was when I was 19 anymore either. I just tend to assume stuff I don't get is meant for a different demographic anymore.

These people don't play video games (besides FIFA and COD), they just pretend to care about it so they can attack minorities. They probably don't even know what the game is about, these people out of nowhere become experts in anime, sports, games, series and movies so they can attack minorities. When playing games wasn't so mainstream, these would be the same people who mocked people who played games as a hobby and were invested in some fictious world, now that being a gamer is more mainstream, they have to pretend they care about games, so they can grift to 14 year olds who hate women.

Yeah, these sorts of people have never struck me as COD or sports games fans

They're the sorts of people who consider themselves patrician video game connoisseurs because they post on /v/ or some terrible subreddit

My friends brother is like that, mocks them for playing ttrpgs and crpgs, while complaining about media being woke now-a-days. All they play is like Halo or whatever.
