Remember when Bernie went on Fox News with a full Fox News audience and won them over?

Turns out having a modicum of respect and understanding for working class people is what they're after. Something that even Trump can somehow pull off better than Harri, who is afraid to even say "working class."

The democrats of old would have simply co-opted that phrase and recast it in neoliberal terms with the sheer power of repetition. If needed, they would have tossed a few crumbs to a hungry audience to convince them they're the good guys -- A modest minimum wage increase, a couple sick days maybe. Nit enough to change the class dynamic, but something to peel off just enough suckers to fuck with worker solidarity.

Today's ruling class, however, has gotten so accustomed to winning with no compromises that they can't even manage this. This is no different than the inability to make any concessions to a Russia that is flat-out beating them at their game, or to a Palestinian Resistance that could have been kneecapped in early days simply by trading prisoners. They will cede nothing to others, and as a result, are risking everything.

Lord knows Trump isn't a working class hero by even a generous casting. They'll take him and pivot to christofascism if classic liberal fascism won't take, but they know trump picks favorites and they'd rather not take the risk of having to bend the knee to someone they can't entirely control. It's lookong increasingly like this is the future we must prepare for

Yeah, my communist org is big on this. The first thing we do when we talk to members of the public is ask them what issues matter to them. Everyone is being hurt by capitalism even if they can't name the problem, so simply letting people talk about their experiences and concerns lets us build a connection and discuss how we're fighting for those causes. Being unaffiliated with the Democrats is probably a huge boon there, since we don't carry their well-earned baggage of being considered condescending and out of touch.

Obviously, a small business tyrant CHUD is a complete nonstarter, but we can almost always find something to fruitfully discuss with even right-leaning lumpens.

"For every blue-collar Democrat we lose in western Pennsylvania, we will pick up two moderate Republicans in the suburbs in Philadelphia, and you can repeat that in Ohio and Illinois and Wisconsin." - Chuck Schumer, 2016

Any body with human emotions would have resigned in shame after making that statement before that election.
