This beast of a chicken of the woods was on my neighbors tree last week, he came over and told me to grab it if I wanted. I took about half, which ended up being 10 lbs.

They certainly took their time, I had been going out a few times a week for the past 2 months or so, and only recently did they start popping. I had great luck with chanterelles and morels earlier in the year.

Not entirely but it's a good substitute. Doesn't have a very mushroomy flavor and the texture is very similar. Great in pasta.
I love mushrooms and the idea of picking wild ones but I'm scared of getting something poisonous, so I'll just stick to store bought 😬
Delicious! I did some in a faux chicken strip style, did some sautéed in a pasta, and then made a conserva with the rest for down the road.
