.... Do they seriously not see the problem in saying, out loud, "we are so fucking bad at this there is a credible threat of the constitution being ammended, supposedly against our wishes, and we're no longer even the minority party but a vistigial one"?
Tbh, I still don't understand how that one conservative personality, I want to say Matt Walsh or someone like that, could say out loud they're against No Fault Divorce without dying of embarrassment or being shamed out of public life. That's like saying you can only get a feminine partner through imprisoning them in a contract. And especially in that scene, where masculinity is so important in a society where masculinity is based on how much you can get laid.
It's more like saying "I have a right to imprison my wife if she gets any funny ideas and God will preserve this marriage". Basically everyone I've ever known irl says shit like this. Cause I grew up in a southern Baptist cult.
My own mother has given me so many lectures about how men should rule the house and didn't stop until a few years ago "you have divorced two abusive husbands and the good one shares or follows you on most things," there was a bit more to the argument but that's personal.
