Before anyone accuses me of harassing fellow students, I'm not enrolled as a student. It's literally my job as a tenured research professor specialized in East Asian studies to ask these tough questions. I doubt it's the language barrier, but the university is forcing me to take an online Chinese 101 course this spring, so next year when I'm fluent I'll ask again.
