I swear, I don't know if it's a Catholic/Lent thing or what but I've been dragged to Italian-American restaurants and 80% of the "Vegetarian" section has anchovies. Like.. No matter how much mental gymnastics, fish is still a meat. Still an animal.
I've made the comment before and that was when I learned that some pope at one point decided that fish is not meat for Lent or Good Friday so the Catholics can further just larp their way to salvation. But the dude is an atheist.
This sort of stuff has me a bit extra cautious for places that claim to make vegan friendly dishes now though. When I treat myself I mostly go to 2 places now. One is a vegan-only food truck and the other is a place where of the owners is vegan so I can trust those but like I have a favorite curry place that has me questioning if they use stuff that isn't actually vegan and just don't know.
Me when I meet someone who says they are a vegetarian for climate reasons and them proceeds to order a salmon dish

Fish are very much alive, sentient animals lol.
