I've sadly been so brainwashed by the media I often wonder how can people alter their actions or words so they're not misconstrued, but eventually realized people will construe the words any way they want because they've already made up their minds. I've wondered before about if perhaps Hamas had glided down or escaped Gaza and just started peacefully protesting to an end to the blockade back on October 7th if perhaps it would've worked (I know, I know, liberal brainworms), and then I realize that Palestinians DID protest peacefully in the past and all they got was being shot to death or being maimed and the Israeli public genuinely could not have cared less and the international community at large wouldn't even have shifted uncomfortably because only Hamas members would've been murdered that day; genuinely nothing would have changed at all because it's not in Israeli society's interest to ever live peacefully with the people whose lands they want and whom they consider to be nothing but savages/local fauna.
The people who want to believe the worst are demonstrating today that despite inarguable evidence of there being a genocide that actually the 'so called evidence' is questionable; never mind that Israel is literally calling the UN Hamas, or that every human rights organization operating in Gaza are saying Israeli snipers are shooting children in the head, never mind that they blocked food, water, medicine and electricity going into Gaza and are slashing how much aid goes in, never mind that Gaza has almost been completely razed to the ground, never mind that many Israeli politicians are openly spewing genocidal rhetoric, never mind that even now they're displacing and murdering Gazans while openly talking of settling Gaza, never mind that the knesset literally had a debate about whetherremoved of detainees should be legal, never mind that most detainees are held without trial or charges, never mind that Israeli society stood up to defend theremoveds and made a folk hero out of one of them, etc etc; all this and they're still arguing that no genocide is taking place. Obviously not everyone, but most people who are like this will never change their stance unless the government and/or media tells them they should.
Yeah I mean in my dad’s case that’s pretty much it. He’s a bigot and he hated Arabs/muslims before this situation and it was just a post hoc excuse for that hatred. Nothing could really be done, least by the media, to change that.
He is also… objectively… one of the single dimmest human beings I’ve ever met in my life.
He has very little capacity for reasoning or noticing contradictions. He is capable of holding a dizzying amount of opinions that can be diametrically opposed to one another so I also think his comprehension just isn’t there to understand the point the interviewee was making.
As another example, the bit in the Bible where it says something about hating someone enough to just call them a fool was akin to committing murder in their heart… he took to literally mean calling someone the word fool was like spiritual murdering someone. Not that being angry was wrong, the word fool was the issue and he got extremely angry at me for calling him a fool one time in a joking, Mr.t kinda way
started peacefully protesting to an end to the blockade
they tried this it was called the Great March of Return and the zionist response was to hold competitions amongst their snipers to see who could maim more people in a day
