i get the feeling that using minorities as a political tactic to distract from thoroughly terrible actions/policies is going to become an american political mainstay if kamala wins and i hope that republicans figure out a way to neuter this tactic if it does; i'll even try to help them with that to this end.

Democrats have been using minorities to shield themselves from criticism for decades. They used civil rights to shield themselves from criticism over Vietnam. They used gay marriage to shield themselves from criticisms of Afghanistan, Iraq, and illegal drone strikes. They've been doing it more overtly since the GOP switched to the Southern Strategy.

Harris is nothing new. She and Biden are just the latest version of the same song and dance going on since FDR.

very true as scapegoats or controversies; i think that this is the first time we're being used as virtue signals and i hate how well it works.

it's depressing to experience so many die at the hands of people who ignored us during the hiv/aids scare and then fucked up our lives with things like executive order 10450; dadt; doma; SB 1070; Proposition 187; & the 2005 student loan act and then end up with the younger minorities fighting for those same people tooth and nail.

i suppose that's why they've banned tiktok; to keep the young ignorant of the political baggage that created their circumstances and it sometimes makes me wish i was a little bit older so that the social disconnects inherent to each minority space i inhabit could let me be similarly ignorant of the younger generation's indoctrination and the trajectory it's taking us.
