As a resident of a vassal state I'm locked in a bubble of naïve liberal media coverage treating Democrats as the left. I realised that despite how evident it is for everyone here that the Dems have become increasingly rightwing with Biden and Harris, I've never found a source that bothered demonstrating it by compiling evidence.

Of course search engines are being completely useless at this, just shoveling endless trash from British and US corporate media

I don't think Biden and Harris are really further right than Obama - and they certainly aren't further right than Clinton. Like, democrats haven't been left in like 50 years.

Did Obama talk as much about ”securing the border”? I can't remember. I do remember he wasn't for legalizing same sex marriage in 2008.

In 2012, activists called Obama the "deporter in chief". The Obama admin bought the cages the trump admin made gamous

Oh yeah, ”deporter in chief” rings a bell, he did do all of that. I should've remembered that, especially that moment when libs decided the cages were bad when Trump was inaugurated. 2012 and even 2016 just feel so far away, though.

Also tagging @Frank@hexbear.net because I don't want to reply to two comments.

Yeah he made it a priority and built the modern deportation machine. Idk how much if anything Trump actually did with ICE, or if he just took what Obama handed him and didn't break it. Regardless, Biden has tuned the engine and the deportation system is apparently at capacity and to get any worse would need more staff, resources, and cash.

the closest they've ever been to it was when they kinda supported some leftist policies (as long as black people didnt get any) to save capitalism and deflate the workers' movement

        this was FDR

perhaps it's more accurate to say that the historical moment conspired to make the Democratic pretense of progressiveness untenable.
