After his TikTok account was deleted and his YouTube channel de-monetised, pro-Palestine content creator Rathbone migrated to right-wing Rumble. Seems like an odd choice based strictly on ideology, and I figure it's probably only a matter of time before Rumble kicks him too, simply on the Palestine question alone.

So that begs the question - how capable is Tankie Tube of absorbing a popular content creator? Assuming this is going to continue to happen more and more (Hasanabi seems like he's on the Twitch chopping block at this very moment).

Paging @TankieTanuki@hexbear.net

Not a lib.

By pure luck I can answer some of that, basically he had a 14yo bandmate that he said was his 'muse' and stuff like that, he used to give her music lessons then they formed a 'band' and he wanted to run away with her I think? It's just a very weird situation. Last I heard she left the band, I think this was before he started making tiktoks, don't know if they're still in contact.

Tbh rathbone is wrong about a lot of stuff all the time and he's a patsoc.

I knew he was hanging out with Midwestern Marx but I didn't know about the grooming allegations. Thanks for providing context.

I think this was the video I watched on it, I'm not sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUHdzyjjrD0

And if you think that's bad, wait until you hear about the history of sexual abuse and grooming built into Hollywood stretching back to its early days in the 1920s!

Oh yeah... he takes a rightist view on issue of Amerikkka being a settler-colonial country, saying that American nationalism chauvinism should be repurposed towards socialist patriotic purposes, patsoc/MAGA,

Considering socialist patriotism is more aligned with post-national liberation framework and self-determination for its new independent, native people and its indigenous minorities, than a settler-state based on the former's displacement and eradiction by foreign potential small capitalists, aided by empire, this take on Amerikkka is heavily flawed

iirc he was working in a private school as a music teacher and then quit to start a band with one of his 13 or 14 year old students. In the article about the band i read he also described her as "very mature for her age"

Rathbone goes live on Twitch, I'd assume he'd be on the chopping block there too. TankieTanuki is rightly gonna hate me for saying this but PeerTube instances have capacity for doing lives. I figure they are ridiculously resource intensive though. Other streamers like Socialism For All that stream on Twitch are going to be facing this same situation.

Here's one of those ideas that would never happen but it would be an absolute coup if it did: TankieTube reaches an agreement with Hasan and agrees to fund all the costs associated with TankieTube. He gets to keep his donos. Other creators like Rathbone and Socialism For All come on board because of what TankieTube can offer them (Rathbone) or because they consider TankieTube the least-worst option and they hold their nose and realise that ideological purity matters less when it's a choice between supporting Jeff Bezos or not (Socialism For All).

Rathbone recently went on InfoWars and then him and his partner started a gross mud-slinging campaign against a few other content creators that rightfully called him out for it. Him, his partner (comradebaddie), and any creator friends still in his circle (buddyhead) are not comrades and we should not be making space for them.

Also, the fact that this went down so suddenly (although I didn't follow him much, so I idk if there were more signs) is a good lesson in why we should be much more critical of content creators, especially when they are not explicitly and demonstrably principled Marxist/dialectical materialists and are growing to a size where they are strongly financially incentivized to pivot to reactionary politics.
