    Wasn't this the real reason that brexit had such support from the UK's wealthy and the reason for their rush? To avoid newer and stricter anti-money-laundering regulations that were to come into effect EU-wide?

    Update, right, here it is, the 6th anti-money-laundering directive.

    The EU’s 6 AML Directive (6 AMLD), which came into effect 3 December 2020 and was implemented by regulated entities by 3 June 2021, aims to strengthen anti-money laundering (AML) rules in the EU and place higher responsibility on regulated entities to fight financial crime.

    That fits in nicely with the ruling-class panic to get the UK out of the EU by the end of 2020, regardless of what sort of bad trade deals they had to take to make it happen.
